Atheists & Agnostics do you agree or disagree with this hypothesis?

I tend to agree with Richard Dawkins' hypothesis -- that religion is perhaps an unintended side effect of some genuinely useful genetic predisposition. For example: a "automatically accept what authority figures tell you" gene is a useful shortcut for passing survival information from one generation to the next; but it opens up our minds to infection from mind viruses like religion.
