Do stripes go on the right or the left (looking down while you're wearing it) on your bjj belt shorts?

Got my first stripe yesterday for No-Gi Brazilian Jui-jitsu and I was gonna sew it on today but I totally forgot if it should be on the right or left looking down while I'm wearing it. Does anyone here know? Thanks in advance!
