What are the best paid advertising methods?

I want some ideas and feedback on some good paid advertising methods. I'd prefer hearing about a method(s) that you have actually tried that has generated favorable results. Free advertising is ok but takes too much time with slow results. I want to find out some good paid advertising methods that don't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks in advance!
