What information would charities try to avoid making public?
I know charities are meant to fulfill certain legal requirements of transparency, but some articles I read say some charities are significantly less transparent than others. Reading some annual reports, often the figures they show are different from their audited accounts - available elsewhere i.e. to make them appear in a more favorable light. For instance if their chief executive earns $200k per year and they rent out an expensive office in the heart of the city or their fund raisers work on say a 10% commission basis, does that kind of information need to be declared? What other kind of information do you think they may not want to share so openly?
